What is hygge?

Pronoucned 'hoo-gir' or 'hoo-ga' depending on which youtube video you're watching. 

 

Put simply, hygge is the Danish ritual of enjoying life's simple pleasures.

Although the use of the word 'hygge' is relatively new outside of Denmark where it originated, you will find you are very familiar with the concept: finding genuine pleasure and joy in every day things- and now we have a simple word for it. The success of the concept in Denmark and perhaps part of the reason the Danes top world happiness charts, is because by giving the concept a name it is easier to put it into practice every day, to seek hygge as an essential element to happiness.  Some other possible translations for hygge, according to author Meik Wiking, are; ‘cosiness of the soul’, ‘taking pleasure from the presence of soothing things,’ or perhaps, ‘cocoa by candlelight.’  Regardless of whether or not you have the perfect translation or even a good pronunciation, hygge is something we can all embrace.

Yes! We use Wix payments- Wix works with the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) system for encrypting credit card information. Wix is also PCI Data Security Standards (DSS) compliant and is accredited as a level 1 service provider and merchant.

How do you ship my items?

For Australia wide shipping, we use Sendle which provides tracking and is carbon neutral. Depending on where you are located you should receive your items in 1-7 days (we've even had some arrive the same day we sent them!)

For international orders, we send via Australia post.

Why is international shipping so expensive?

We wondered the same. Unfortunately Australia is (obviously) far from everything which means shipping costs a bit more. We have tried to provide cost-effective rates to allow our international customers to order from our little shop too!
